He painted music halls and seedy lodging house interiors, and enjoyed sophisticated London society. He worked with Degas in Dieppe and for several years divided his time between Dieppe and Venice. The artist also has strong Bath connections. At the beginning of the 20th century, Walter Sickert (1860-1942) painted a remarkable series of female nudes which confirmed his reputation as one of the most important modern British artists. This was the first exhibition devoted to these radical works produced in Camden Town, north London, between 1905 and 1913.
